Dr. Sara is currently licensed to provide therapy in Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Nevada, and Utah. (Offering in-person therapy in Scottsdale, AZ and telehealth therapy in Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Nevada, and Utah).
Sara brings 13 years of experience treating a variety of mental health disorders in a university setting, private practice, and in-home services to children, teens, adults, and families. She had the opportunity to initially specialize in the treatment of eating disorders in college athletes and centered her dissertation research on eating disorders in young adult women and their relationships with their fathers.
Sara has been specializing in Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder in private practice settings for the past 8 years. Due to the high volume of individuals suffering from debilitating OCD, and in need of services, she was confident she could make an impact in the OCD community with the creation of CalmOCD. Creating a team that provides quality OCD services has been life changing.
Sara has dedicated her professional career to treating OCD. OCD is very treatable! Many times, patients have visited dozens of therapists with no improvement to their symptoms. CalmOCD is a very action-oriented treatment geared toward obtaining results, fast! Through evidence-based treatment the OCD sufferer begins to learn the problem with OCD is not in fact the anxiety, but the compulsive behavior. Patients learn they can, in fact, tolerate uncomfortable emotions and stop running away from their fears.
CalmOCD is not a revolving-door type of clinic. Dr. Sara takes the time to develop a deep understanding of each patients’ symptoms so individualized treatment can be developed. No two people are the same even if they’re experiencing the same OCD subtype, which is why our approach is unique. When it comes to OCD and intrusive thoughts, there can be a lot of shame and guilt. Dr. Sara feels everyone has the right to receive exceptional care in a non-judgmental and compassionate setting. Sara brings a relational approach offering warmth, passion, and positivity.
In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her pets, going thrift/antique shopping, traveling, and heading to her home state of Kansas to visit family. Arizona is home now; however, she is appreciative of the experiences she had growing up in small communities in Kansas.
