Mallory Lakin, MSW, LCSW (AZ), LICSW (MA), is a licensed clinical social worker providing compassionate therapeutic services in-person in Scottsdale, Arizona, and virtually throughout Arizona and Massachusetts.
With a foundation in undergraduate studies at the University of Kansas in Journalism and graduate training at Arizona State University in Social Work, Mallory brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her practice. Drawing from half a decade of experience across diverse clinical settings, including psychiatric hospitals, schools, community mental health clinics, and emergency care, Mallory has honed her skills in assisting adolescents, adults, and families facing various mental health challenges.
Mallory specializes in treating Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), recognizing the complexity of this condition and the impact it can have on individuals' lives. She has a particular interest in working with clients experiencing Just Right OCD, Checking OCD, and Relationship OCD, understanding the unique struggles each subtype presents. While she is passionate about these specific areas, Mallory is open and capable of supporting all subtypes of OCD, as well as addressing co-occurring disorders such as Obsessive-Compulsive Personality Disorder (OCPD) and Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD). She approaches therapy with a blend of understanding, patience, empathy, and especially humor, believing that a supportive and trusting therapeutic relationship is essential for progress. Mallory is committed to empowering her clients with the tools and strategies needed to manage obsessions, unwanted thoughts, and fears, while working towards reducing compulsive behaviors and avoidance.
At the heart of Mallory's therapeutic approach lies the belief in the power of evidence-based modalities. While primarily utilizing Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Mallory also integrates elements of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Mindful Self-Compassion, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as needed, ensuring a comprehensive and tailored treatment plan for each individual.
Mallory is dedicated to her work with the committed team at CalmOCD, where she strives to make a meaningful impact within the OCD community. Her ultimate goal is to empower her clients to overcome their fears, embrace their authenticity, and live a life free from the constraints of OCD.
Outside of her professional commitments, Mallory values maintaining a balanced lifestyle. She enjoys participating in Pilates classes and dedicates time to family and friends, along with her two beloved dogs. Additionally, Mallory has a passion for exploring new culinary experiences, staying active, and traveling to both new and familiar destinations.
