Brooke Fadanelli, M.A., LPC, is a licensed professional counselor providing services in Arizona, Illinois, Ohio, and South Carolina (offering in-person therapy in Scottsdale, AZ, and telehealth therapy in Arizona, Illinois, Ohio, and South Carolina).
Brooke brings 5 years of experience providing therapeutic services in community settings, outpatient settings, and crisis prevention and response centers. Brooke is specialized in treating OCD and a variety of anxiety disorders including generalized anxiety disorder, specific phobias, and panic disorder using exposure response prevention. She works with children, adolescents, adults, and their families.
When working with parents and families, Brooke’s goal is to educate them on how best to support their loved one throughout treatment. Sometimes, the well-intentioned accommodations provided to help an anxious family member are actually making their anxiety greater! Brooke will help clients and their families learn the ins and outs of their anxiety, guide them in challenging unhelpful thought patterns, and create new responses to learned behaviors that will assist in decreasing anxiety long term. Brooke particularly enjoys engaging clients in exposure and response prevention because it is unique to each client, a hands-on approach, and can allow for creativity. Believe it or not, challenging anxiety through exposure and response prevention can be fun!
Brooke has a particular specialty and interest in working with Harm OCD, Existential OCD, Sexual Intrusive Thoughts OCD, and Emetophobia (the fear of vomiting). These subtypes of OCD often feel controversial or taboo and produce much shame and guilt. Brooke first and foremost wants those struggling with these subtypes to know that they are normal and treatable - there is nothing wrong with experiencing these thoughts and emotions and it is more common than one might think! She works toward fostering trusting relationships with her clients where no topics are off the table. She is here to help those struggling with these thoughts to learn skills to manage them, build confidence, and live fulfilling lives despite the challenges OCD brings.
Dealing with OCD and anxiety can often feel isolating and that nobody truly understands what it’s like. Brooke’s core value in her clinical work is creating a warm and welcoming space where clients can expect to feel seen, valued, and understood. Brooke’s therapeutic approach includes authenticity, creativity, and humor to create meaningful connections with her clients.
A bit about Brooke - she is originally from Chicago, IL and loves being in the Arizona sunshine, especially relaxing at the pool and hiking. In her spare time she enjoys trying out a new restaurant, reading, exercising, and playing with her Labrador retriever puppy, Cooper, who she is always happy to share pictures of :)
