CLIENT TESTIMONIAL
“Like many, I struggled with OCD for years before receiving a proper diagnosis. I had been to several general therapists before being diagnosed with OCD, and they didn't seem to make much of a lasting impact. I didn't see how OCD targeted therapies could be that different (spoiler: I was wrong). Additionally, I was terrified to start therapy because it meant confronting everything I had been trying to avoid. But as my compulsions worsened, it became clear that my only choice was to seek treatment. Desperate for help and a shell of myself, I reached out to CalmOCD.
During my initial consultation, I was thankful for the complete lack of judgement as I talked about my obsessions and compulsions. Even when I mentioned my "taboo" themes, Lindsey didn't flinch. I was nervous, but for the first time, I didn't feel alone. CalmOCD had become my glimmer of hope.
From the first session, Lindsey created a welcoming environment. She has an amazing gift for helping this community - she knows when to push your limits and encourage bravery but simultaneously allows you to lead each session. It is an incredible balance that leads to amazing outcomes. During our time together, I have accomplished goals that I thought were completely unattainable before therapy. My anxiety has decreased, and I am able to spend my time doing things I want to do, instead of spending countless hours giving into compulsions.
CalmOCD is a truly amazing place. I love that they focus on educating clients about the condition before jumping into practical exercises. This holistic approach helped me understand why I kept falling into OCD's traps. Once we started doing exposures, I understood the reasons why my brain was responding the way that it did. I knew what parts of the cycle I had control of, and how to accept the fear instead of fight it.
OCD treatment is a marathon, not a sprint and I am grateful to be on this journey with CalmOCD. For the first time, I am not trudging through life in a constant state of panic. I am excited for the future. Hope is an amazing thing.”
